The Mentorship Experience
(March 22, 2017):
) Well, the workshop blew my mind. The information on running the business, posing parents, siblings, newborns and editing, was overwhelming but I soaked it all in and then some those 2 days. Bianca did not just tell our group how to pose, but explained each step and why it was important. I had hands on training in safety of posing and wrapping, learning what angels to shoot and how and where the light should go for best results. I needed this. All of it. I was terrified of studio lights and often shot most my work outdoors (hoping the sun and sky would cooperate). Since, my work has been acknowledged for its improvement. And I’m no longer afraid to shoot in studio. Each time I pose a sweet newborn, my work gets better. I grow more confident in my skill, and can’t wait for the next baby to arrive. I am so thankful for the opportunity to meet and train with Bianca. (more

) The second day we spent hours together photographing two babies and their parents. The first session Bianca styled and taught me all about angles. She let me take a shot of each pose and setup and made sure I had the angles just right! The second session I was able to style and pose and she was right there to assist me. It really was an awesome opportunity because I got a lot of hands on experience, which was very important to me when choosing a 1:1 newborn mentor! Bianca has such a huge heart and is very passionate about newborn photography. I am very thankful for the experience I received. She was welcoming and shared her knowledge with me. For that I am forever grateful! I’m so excited to further my newborn photography and use all the new skills she taught me! (more

) In January I ventured down to meet Bianca with Axsys Design and spent two days with her for newborn mentoring! Choosing to hire Bianca to teach me has already proven to be one of the best decisions I’ve made for my business. I went into mentoring knowing my work was ‘good’, but I’ve known I needing something or someone to help take me to the next level and make it great. With Bianca (and also great info from her husband, Jason!) I’m on the right path towards achieving that and have already seen such an awesome change in my work and my business! She was so open in every aspect of not only teaching her posing flows, tips and tricks, but also every in and out of running a newborn photography studio. (more

) I found Bianca to be a very patient instructor. This was extremely helpful, especially when handling and posing a little one (it can be nerve wracking sometimes!). From the start, Bianca was super funny and warm. She was also very informative and very detailed in her instruction about cameras, business, and babies. The class was “hands on”… this is a rare jewel for baby workshops. Very few workshops allow student to touch the babies. In Bianca’s class, we had a chance to go hands on and pose the babies and parents. The hands-on aspect of this class greatly improved the learning curve for me. It’s one thing to see a pose and photograph it.. but it’s a more powerful experience when one can physically pose the baby and parent. As a tactile learner, this helped me retain and understand the pose more in depth. This is all done along with Bianca’s guidance and expertise. (more

) My workshop experience with Photography by Axsys Design is one that will stay with me throughout my career as a newborn photographer. I am so very fortunate that Bianca decided to come to Anchorage, Alaska and offer this workshop. Since my time with her, I’ve shot more varied angles in my newborn sessions, captured beautifully lit newborn portraits, added several new poses to my bean bag work flow and bucket shots, and began proofing newborn sessions with gorgeous straight out of camera images. What more could I ask for? Bianca is amazing! If you have a passion for artful newborn photography and are looking for a mentor, please check out Photography by Axsys Design. My soul is literally dancing for having learned from Bianca Hubble! (more

) In November of 2015, I had already photographed tons of babies and I was a good newborn photographer, but I wanted my work to be a bit more polished..other photographer friends and even a few close clients that knew I was signing up for a newborn mentorship questioned me, they didn’t know why I would spend that kind of money when to them my work was good, but as a photographer I always want to be learning and to get better. (more) I think that the pictures speak for themselves, the newborn mentorship was great and I am definitely glad I took it!
Oh, I almost forgot. The Facebook group you get added to after the 2 day workshop/mentoring is awesome, its not like other groups where people are not active or post pictures that are not relevant. The group is active and supportive and if you ask for critique they will give you honest feedback and if the photo is dabomb.com (yah, its still a phrase) which it probably will be if you posting a photo after the mentorship, and someone says the photos is great, you will know it is because the group is not their to stroke your ego or bring you down, the people there are active in the group want everyone to do amazing. So after you get added, be sure to say hi to everyone, especially me! I will be personally offended if you dont (more)

(April 21, 2016): I first found out about Bianca when I saw her Periscoping triplets! I could tell she had such a fun, laid back personality and I absolutely loved everything about her work from her style, editing and posing. I sent her a message to ask about her mentoring and she called me within the same day to go over all the details. I knew she was a good fit for what I was looking for after talking to her on the phone. Bianca seemed to care about my business and wanted to help me grow to become a better newborn photographer. I loved that she sat down with me when we first met and we talked about the business side of newborn photography. After dinner we went back to her studio and she showed me how to style a session and we prepped for the sessions for the next day. She let me pick and choose from her HUGE selection of props. It was fun. The following day we had two newborns. I liked that she showed me parent posing, sibling posing and she let me pose the 2nd baby so it was hands on training which was exactly what I needed. Bianca made me feel comfortable and confident. I was never afraid to ask her a question because she was an open book which is what was so helpful. What I loved best about this investment is that even after the 1:1 she added me to her FB group and will CC my photos which has been so helpful. I am VERY new to photoshop and she would take my images and edit them and she taped it so I could learn exactly how to do it. She’s followed up and seems to really want to help which makes me feel so good about the investment I made. She even offered to Facetime me during a session if I needed help with a certain pose. Her husband has been extremely helpful as well. He has helped me with any questions on studio lighting equipment and even random technical issues with LR. I highly recommend Bianca’s Mentoring, she’s so great to work with and you will see a big difference in your work! I’m so glad I did it and have no regrets! Thanks Bianca for everything!
(April 15, 2016):
At the very end of last year, I decided to take the plunge and invest in a one on one mentoring session with a great photographer down near Atlanta. Turns out, it was hands down the best business investment of my year. Bianca, from Photography by Axsys Design, taught me so many things in our time together. She is so incredibly knowledgeable in newborn photography that I was blown away. Not only did she patiently answer all of my questions, but she taught me a… (more

I recently had the pleasure of being a mentee of Bianca Hubble, the fab photographer behind the camera over at Photography by Axsys Design! Bianca is a very talented newborn photographer, and even operates 3 studios in GA! So… I ventured over to her home studio in Toccoa, GA. We started off with dinner, chatting, and then made our way into the studio to style the two newborn sessions we were to have the next day– a boy and a girl.:)And I am SO excited to share some of the images from our sessions! First we had a little boy named Huck! HOW cute is that NAME??? I just love it! Then we had a sweet little girl too! I couldn’t have been more blessed to be able to work with and observe Bianca! During the sessions and even afterwards, we were able to chat about alllll things newborn photography related! From marketing, to sales, to styling and set-up of sessions, to posing technique, and many more things I’m sure I’m forgetting! But without too much more chit-chat, please enjoy these adorable images of the sweet babies we photographed! (more

(March 19, 2015): Oh my goodness! Bianca is awesome! I was first drawn to her mentoring because of her work. And once I found her 1:1 mentoring I thought it was a opportunity I couldn’t pass up. She welcomed me into her studio and home with an open heart, and I am grateful. We went over business aspects, editing, posing, props, equipment, marketing, etc… At the time of our mentoring I was using all natural lighting in-studio. After mentoring, I am using studio lighting which has made a huge difference in my images. I also never knew all the ways, rules, and tips on how to pose a newborn. She showed me how to incorporate a workflow into the posing. My sessions used to last 4-5 hours and now average 2-3 hours. The editing tips were a tremendous help…now my newborns have amazing skin! I learned so much from Bianca, and still learning. The fact that she is still helping me, critiquing my work, giving advice every step of the way, means more to me than she’ll ever know. I recommend her 1:1 mentoring to anyone wanting to specialize in newborn photography. I am forever grateful…thank you Bianca!
(November 13, 2014):
After taking the mentorship with Bianca from Photography by Axsys Designs I see so much improvement in my images straight out of camera. A fellow photographer shortly after my time with Bianca mentioned that she saw such a drastic improvement in my work and wondered why. Bianca welcomed me into her studio and home and I could not be more grateful to her. Her work is always so perfect, she is amazing at what she does. I followed her on FB for quite a while before taking the leap, and was always in awe of her stunning newborn images. After seeing her in action I can say she is truly an amazing artist, photographer, and a baby whisperer. She gave me so many great pointers that I have implemented into my workflow and sessions, some small things I had never heard about that have had a great impact on my sessions. My lighting, posing, and confidence have all improved following my mentorship with her. She continues to support me regularly after our time together. She is so accessible and quickly answers all my questions, providing me pointers, and support via email and FB. Bianca spent time teaching me lighting, posing, workflow, how to take control at a session, how to streamline/stylize sets and props, and helped me to improve my editing time and workflow. This has allowed me to grow as a photographer. It would have taken me years to acquire all that I learned from Bianca in 1 1/2 days.
I still am in awe of her and strive to implement what I learned. I have much more growing to do, but I feel that this experience has give me so much knowledge and will allow me to take my photography business so much farther.
Thank you Bianca!!!
(September 1, 2014): During my time working as a newborn photographer, I’ve met so many amazing people. Not only clients but also incredible photographers who have become my friends. Last week I was blessed to finally meet my Facebook photographer “crush” — and friend — Bianca Colon Hubble and her beautiful family in Georgia. We not only worked together but I also had the opportunity to experience her awesome 1:1 newborn mentoring. She is a wonderful teacher and gracious in answering any questions. We went over studio lighting, beanbag posing (I love her transitioning), props, flokati shots, parent shots, backlighting, wrapping … you name it! We had an easy baby and also a really touchy one. And seeing her read each and respond to each situation has been such a huge help for me post-workshop. There will always be room for improvement and I will continue to push myself. But I can’t say this enough: If you are really serious about newborn photography, I highly recommend her. Thank you so much for everything Bianca!! ♥ ♥ ♥
I am currently offering mentorship opportunities to photographers who are serious about mastering the craft of newborn photography. Please submit an inquiry if you would like to be notified of last minute mentoring opportunities or if you would like to schedule a mentorship opportunity.
